When I woke up on Friday...

Friday: 1st August 2008. The first day after over 5 years of work life when I didn't know what I was going to work on. For the last 5 years, everyday I woke up, I knew I would be going to office and working on something for RTS and GE Healthcare. But on Friday, that wasn't the case. I wasn't going to talk to open outlook, I wasn't going to log onto Sametime, I wasn't going to log into one of those innumerous servers I had access to, and I wasn't going to do that one thing that would let me sleep peacefully thinking that the day was well spent :)

So now I am "on bench"(IT industry's term for being unassigned to anything). MATC(Manpower Allocation Task Committee) that oversees allocation of resources to projects in TCS, will try finding some opportunity that suits my needs and aspirations(yeah yeah...i have some). But I have mixed feelings about being on bench. While its exciting to be at a place(bench) that almost everyone I know has been on sometime or the other, and has had a somewhat good experience, at the same time its painful too because somewhere within me is a workoholic who hates not having something to do.

Guess I will have to find something to do that would again let me sleep peacefully thinking that the day was well spent :)
